SUMMARY:Special Town Meeting to be held at the Tele-Business Center
DESCRIPTION:The  Town of Machias will hold a Special Town Meeting on January 17\, 2018 at the Machias Tele-Business Center in the first floor conference Room 2 at 6:00 pm to act on the following articles: \nARTICLE 1:  To elect a moderator to preside at said meeting \nARTICLE 2:  To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to borrow up to $250\,000 to be used as matching funds for improvements at the Machias Valley Airport.  These funds will help secure another $250\,000 in State funds and more than $4.4 million in Federal funds.  These funds will be used to re-construct the runway\, install fuel services\, and construct hangar space at the existing airport.  The Airport  Committee will work to obtain donations which will be used to offset the loan costs.  The Machias Board of Selectmen and Budget Committee Recommend.\n \nARTICLE 3: To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Machias Board of Selectmen to expend up to $16\, 500 from the Un-designed Fund Balance for the purchase of a used snow plow truck body has dropped through frame.  The Machias Board of Selectmen and Budget Committee Recommend. \nNOTICE:  The Board of Selectman’s meeting from January 10th has been re-scheduled for January 17th following the Special Town Meeting at the Machias Tele-Business Center.
