The Assessors Department is responsible for accurately determining the value of property located within the Town of Machias for the purpose of taxation. Assessors are obligated under law to assess all property at its just value as of the 1st of April each year. This department is also responsible for the administration of all property tax data records. We maintain accurate parcel ownership (data) based upon recorded property transactions we receive from the Registry of Deeds and all map data pertinent to accurate parcel identification

Please Report change of Mailing Address to Assessor’s Office at the Town Office at Town of Machias, P.O. Box 418, Machias, Maine 04654. Note: If the property is serviced by the Municipal Sewer, please make sure you submit a change of address to the Town Clerk.
